The Holistic Prenatal Weekend  

The Prenatal Weekend is designed to provide many of the holistic skills that will help make your pregnancy and post-natal period healthy and happy! This includes breath and relaxation techniques, yoga (both solo and in couples), massage techniques for parents and infants, nutrition and personal training workshops. A wide range of professionals will be available including a naturopath, chiropractor, massage therapists, doula and holistic parenting coach. You won't find another group like this anywhere! Best of all, you will learn by doing. This means a wonderful weekend of yoga, massage, fun and food in the warm environment of Tanglefoot Lodge. It is a great weekend getaway! Besides all of the fantastic weekend activities you will be free to rest and relax, making use of our facilities and meeting other great people. What could be better for an expectant mom!  

The cost of this retreat is $225 per person (registration deposit is $100). This includes two nights accommodations (double occupancy), all meals, classes and use of the facilities. We know you'll have a great time!

Sample Schedule (all activities are optional)

Friday

Feel free to arrive any time after 1 p.m.. Early birds can have a relaxing afternoon walking the grounds, relaxing on the patio or getting a holistic health treatment in to start the weekend off right.

Friday evening we will have a meet and greet with finger foods for all the weekend visitors. This is a great time to make new friends and meet other people who have an interest in getting the most out of life! We will do a brief talk about the weekends activities and introduce the main instructors. Later, most people just want to relax, chat, watch the stars, or get an early night.

Saturday

Breakfast – An absolutely fabulous breakfast with your choice of fresh bread, fruit, granola, pancakes, and eggs. Served with freshly made fruit and vegetable juices.

Introductory class – All of the basics to get you started. Nutrition – What you need to know about what to eat before and after the baby comes. What foods will sooth, what will irritate. Holisitic health- what are the different options available? Exercise – Why do it?

Basic Massage (for couples)- Whether it is aches and pains due to altered body mechanics or a release from the stress of the day, massage is ALWAYS good! Learn basic techniques to help your partner feel their best.

Yoga for Parents (solo)- We will begin to develop your solo yoga routine. We will talk about why it is important to do yoga before and after pregnancy.

Lunch- Healthy and delicious, you will not be disappointed.

Free time- Time to rest, relax and enjoy yourself. Over the course of the day you can make arrangements to have any of our Healing Arts treatments or cunsult with any of the visiting professionals. As always, you are free to use any of our retreat facilities or you can go check out some of the local activities such as hiking/skiing, boating or horseback riding. 

Yoga for Parents (for couples)- These yoga techniques utilize a partner for stability and extra stretch. As well as being healthy and relaxing they are great for bringing people closer together!

Dinner- A sumptuous meal by candlelight.

Rest and Relaxation- Personal time for reflection, conversation and enjoyment of the beautiful space at Tanglefoot Lodge. Make time for your new friends or have some quiet time with your partner.

You will sleep deeply tonight.

Sunday  

Breakfast- Another great breakfast to start your day!

Basic Infant Massage The brief time we have with our children is precious.  Learning to massage your baby is an enjoyable way to enhance your infant's development, deepen loving communication between you and your child, and provide an opportunity for you and your baby to develop relaxation skills that can last a lifetime. "An infants need for body contact is compelling. If that need is not adequately satisfied, even though all other needs are adequately met, he or she will suffer."(Dr. Ashley Montague, TOUCHING: The Human Significance of Skin).

During this class you will not only learn the proper techniques for massaging your child, but you will be educated on the health benefits, bonding, mental/physical development and dealing with colic.  Massaging  your baby introduces  a unique level of confidence and relaxation that is reflected in the health and nature of your child and your relationship.  To develop the ability to directly impact your child's emotional and physical health, is one of the most wonderful skills a parent can acquire.

Yoga for Parents (solo)- We practice your solo yoga routine. You will begin to notice just how good it makes you feel. You will feel the effects of the previous day. Your muscles will feel toned and well stretched, your breathing will be full, and your mind will be more clear than it was before you arrived.

You can savor the feeling of well-being you have created while the last of the one-on-one consultations and treatments are done.

Finally, we will share food to celebrate the renewal of old friendships and the growth of new ones.
