Sharon Van Raalte: Instructor Shamanic Divination Training Prerequisite: The Way of the Shaman One of the classic tasks of the shaman is to journey into non-ordinary reality in order to obtain answers to questions, both at the request of others and for oneself. Participants in the workshop have the opportunity to engage in divination journeys for each other as well as for themselves and to gain experience in using various time-tested shamanic divination techniques. In the shamanic search to become a person of knowledge, they learn, as shamans have from time immemorial, how to converse with plants as well as animal species, how to learn about the use of quartz crystals, and how to seek and receive revelatory knowledge from visionary sources. NOTE:
For
this workshop, in addition to drum/rattle, notebook, etc., participants need to
bring a rough surfaced rock approximately the size of a grapefruit, a blanket
(essential), and a small (approx. 1” long) quartz crystal. The standard format for this course is day only, running from approximately 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on a Saturday and Sunday. This includes a light lunch both days. The day only version of the course costs the standard FSS tuition of $185 plus GST (half tuition for registered aboriginals). The deposit for the day course is $65. Here at Tanglefoot Lodge, we are pleased to be able to offer an optional residential version of the course. This version includes tuition, all meals and accommodations as well as background evening activities such as drum circles, sweat lodge ceremonies, bonfires, communing with nature/hikes/skiing and relaxation at the lodge. The residential version is only $250 plus GST (Saturday night only) or $285 plus GST (Friday and Saturday nights). The deposit is $100. There are limited residential spaces so make sure to reserve one early!
